Biography

Mark specializes in patent matters relating to pharmaceutics, diagnostics, biotechnology, and medical devices. Currently, he focuses on patent prosecution, due diligence, and developing intellectual property strategies. With a Doctorate in Pharmacy, Mark deeply appreciates the technical aspects of client inventions while also recognizing their broader potential impacts in healthcare and in the clinic. Mark believes in supporting the entrepreneurial community through involvement in organizations that focus their energies on educating and counseling entrepreneurs. Prior to working at NGUYEN TARBET IP Law, Mark was an intern at the University of Arizona’s Tech Launch Arizona, where he analyzed inventions created at the University, with a particular focus on commercialization and patentability analysis. He also worked at Cancer Prevention Pharmaceuticals, where he assisted management to resolve scientific and legal issues related to drug development.

  • Developed and executed patent strategy for multiple drug device and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Led a team conducting an extensive freedom-to-operate analysis on a large, complex, multicomponent medical diagnostic device. Drafted freedom-to-operate letters.
  • Assessed patent portfolio and conducted product clearance study for acquisition of a medical device.
